Game rules (source Eesti Padeli Liit)

  • A ball that is hit directly to the opponent’s back or side wall without bouncing on the ground first is considered out and results in a lost point.
  • If the ball, after bouncing once on the opponent’s court, touches the wall (mesh or glass), it remains in play until the second bounce.
  • After bouncing off the wall, the ball can be played, but it must not bounce on the ground again after hitting the wall.
  • Players may use the glass wall on their side of the court (but not the mesh) to play the ball over the net to the opponent’s side.
  • The serve must be hit after a bounce and from hip height or below – that is, underhand.
  • The lines on the court are only used for serving, and the serve must be directed diagonally into the service box (similar to tennis).
  • On the serve, the ball must not bounce into the side mesh of the service box – if it does, the serve is considered a fault.
  • The ball may bounce off the glass, but it must not hit the ground after that.
  • The ball may be hit directly out of the air (a volley).
  • Touching the net with the racket or any part of the body during a point results in a lost point.
  • Scoring and side switching follow the same rules as in tennis.
